Light house in a storm

Ch1

I traveled a long way and over yonder I saw a house. It appeared to be very large. I cautiously walked toward the door with every step I heard the pounding of my heart get louder. I opened the door and heard a loud creek! I walked through the house and nothing till I came to this extremely tiny room that appeared to have light. In this room I found five small children and a baby. I asked the children where there mom was the oldest he looked about nine he stepped forward and said “mom went to get milk three days ago.” His seven year old sister with the missing teeth chimed in and said “yeah mommy wenth to get milk.” While from the bed his five and three year old sisters nodded while his four year old brother hid behind him. While the baby boy lay asleep in his crib. Just then a horrible thought crossed my mind their mom was in the car accident I passed the other day. I remained calm and I simply asked “what are your names?” The oldest stepped forward and said “My name is Bret.” Then the seven year stepped forward and said “My name is Suzy.” Then Bret walked over to the bed on put his hand on his five year old sister’s head and said “This is Cathy.” Bret then placing his hand on his four year old brother’s head that was still close by him said “This is Josh.” Then Bret turning back to the bed placed his hand and his 3 year old sister’s head and said “This is Charity.” Then Bret walked over to the crib peered in and in a cooing tone said “This is Andrew.” Just then Bret's face met mine with a serious look. I quickly decided it would be ok to tell him what I knew.

We stepped in the hall for a minute and I told him what I knew. We decide after lunch that all of us should go to the hospital and find out. So we reenter the room. I went to the crib and picked up Andrew. Then I said “Let’s go get food.” I saw Bret go to the bed where charity was sitting he picked her up like an old pro. I knelt down to Suzy’s level and very gently asked “Why’d Bret just pick up Charity?” Suzy replied “Charity can’t walk and Cathy needs those crutches to walk.” she also added “I help Cathy up and down the stairs.” “oh.” I said Suzy walked over to the shelf and brought me a huge stack of papers I told her to have Josh carry them down stairs.

Once we were safely down stairs I put Andrew in his infant high chair. Then I took Charity from Bret and put her in her tot chair. Then so Cathy wasn’t up to long I put her in her booster seat as I helped Josh into his tot chair. Then me, Bret, and Suzy sat down in regular chairs. I quickly read through papers found out a lot of information. I asked a couple of questions. Bret just needed me to measure his insulin cause he was diabetic. I figure to bring Suzy’s inhaler with us on the car trip cause she has asthma. It had brief about Cathy and why she needed crutches but said absolutely nothing about why charity couldn’t walk. I served lunch. The kids ate happily while I gave Andrew his bottle. I began to wonder if I would end up adopting these adorable children and decided if I did we would move to my house with enough rooms for everyone. I was thinking about the trip to the hospital and right when I decided to get these kids looked at by the pediatrician. I noticed Suzy pulling on my sleeve and asking for seconds.

Ch2

Then when they had finished their lunch a loaded them in to my minivan. At that very moment I was thankful back home I ran a school. My minivan was well equipped. I placed Andrew in the infant seat. Then again I took Charity from Bret and I placed her in a car seat because I needed both car booster seats. I then take Josh in one arm and Cathy in the other and place Cathy in the booster seat in the middle and Josh in the booster seat in the back. Then to Bret and Suzy I said “I don’t think your mom ever put you two in safety seats but you’re going to be in them today at least.” So Bret and Suzy climb in and seem content in the seats. Than Bret put on his buckle as I helped Suzy with hers. Then I climb into the driver’s seat and buckle up. Did I mention this had three seats in the middle as well as in the back.

“Now we are on our way” I said to myself Did I mention how long this drive was too long. We were on the rode for four in half hours. We sang so many songs it wasn’t even funny. At first the drive was very peaceful but that lasted maybe 10 minutes. It started with bickering between Bret and Suzy. The bickering caused Andrew to cry and Charity and Josh to whimper and scream. By this time Cathy was the only one not making any noise. So I grabbed a couple of my children cd’s and handed them to Cathy and said “You pick a cd ok.” Then she gingerly gave me one cd I put it in the player. I really don’t know if she knew what exactly she was choosing. The first song was be kind to your friends and family. The second song really shocked her siblings it was the Jesus alphabet song. Then we heard the harmer song. Then we heard a color song . Then we heard them all jumbled together. By now things had died down and in order to get a point across to Bret and Suzy. I gave Charity the next pick and she said she wanted to sing the wheels on the bus not listen to it. That was fine with me. So we all sang wheels on the bus. I heard Bret and Suzy whispering. That’s when I told Josh to pick a game we could all play. he chose a counting game. He didn’t use any ordinary counting game either it started like this first we passed one of something next we had to have that same item and two new items and this went on till we were 20 minutes from the hospital and Suzy shouts “ I have to pee.” My thought was how embarrassing.

So we pull into a gas station. May I remind you that this was no easy task So as soon as we stop Bret and Suzy hop out. I tell them stay put for a minute. I knew Suzy had to go really bad because she was doing a potty dance. So I unbuckle Josh who imdetly goes and stands near his brother. Then I give Charity to Bret. Then I help Cathy out. Then as quickly as possible I put Andrew in my arms. Then some lady walks by and asks the kids if I were there mommy. At that very second my face met Bret’s and we quickly go inside. While all except Andrew, Bret and I were in the washroom we decide to buy the rest of the kids a treat to prevent a tantrum. Then we loaded everyone back up. At last we were on the rode again. The last 20 minutes of the rode trip went smoothly. That’s because for five minutes they sang quietly to themselves and then fell asleep we arrived safely at the hospital.

Ch3
I woke the children up and then we unloaded. Then we went into the hospital. Then to Bret I said “Bret you’re the oldest in your family the oldest child so you’ll have ask and the front desk about your mom ok?” “Ok.” He replied. Bret talked to the lady at the front desk. I talked to the lady at the pediatric desk and arranged for them all to have a checkup . While Bret and I were talking to people desks and my feeling got stronger that their mom was no longer alive. Now we were waiting to for their checkups I looked at Bret and he nodded to me. I knew their mom was no longer alive. I knew they needed to know so I had Bret hold Andrew as I knelt down to child height. I said “ I know you’re not going to like the news I’m breaking to you. Your mom died a few hours after a car accident she was in the other day.” The only one who understood besides me and Bret was Suzy. She cried and said “Why was mommy taken to heaven so young?” I replied “I don’t know but at least we know she’s in heaven.” Suzy replied “Right.” I think the others were too young to understand.

Then we were called back for their checkups. I decide it would be best if Bret went first considering he was the oldest. Bret’s check up went well. Then it was Suzy’s turn it turn out it was time for her to get a shot. She freaked out the moment she saw the needle. I told her about the trick I used and told her to close her eyes and count to three or say her favorite word three times. She said happy three times and she said “I felt nothing.” I replied “ of course it’s a magic trick.” Then Cathy’s turn she needs a shot to but she just sat there through her whole check up and didn’t make a sound. Next up was Josh he made silly noises through his check up even though he didn’t need a shot. Now it was Charity’s turn the doctor said after we finish up with the littlest one can I speak with you and her? I replied “Sure.” Then it was Andrew’s turn his check up went great. Then all except the doctor, Charity, and me were led out. The children went to a pediatric play room. He said to Charity and me “How would you like a wheel chair for her?” I replied “that sound like a terrific idea.” He also said “even though she can’t walk now she may be able to by the times she’s five with intensive therapy.” I said How about it Charity.” She nodded intently. Then I went I got the other children and explained what was going on. So Bret asked “Where are we off to next adoption place, wheel chair place, or therapy center to arrange a schedule. I thought and thought and thought while we sat in the car. I figured probably court to arrange temporary guraince and maybe adopt them but adopting them was going to be very long process. I said “To court.” Then I explained about guardianship and adoption.

Then to the wheel chair place. Then to arrange therapy. Then back to the wheelchair place to pick up Charity’s wheel chair. Then we will go to the mall to buy you all some new outfits. Then at last we will go back to my place which is better equipped for all of you I told them. Suzy asked “how many bedrooms does your house have?” I said “10 bedrooms.” Suzy thought that was amazing. Finally we arrived at the court house and unloaded as we did many times that day.

Ch4

So we were off to court they actual behaved on this car trip from the doctors offices to the court thank my stars. The judge said that it would be hard to adopt them sense there mom was no longer alive. The judge explained how I cloud get guarnanship and only because the kids seemed to be comfortable with me. The judge also explained that if I get gauranship it would be easier to adopt them but there was no gareunte. He also said I had to have a case worker for the children for at least 3 months. I’m not sure why but Bret and Suzy gave the judge a hopeful look. I was thinking we were a scene in half in that court room six children one adult talking to a judge I wonder what everyone who passed thought. I had Andrew in my arms Bret had Charity in his arms with Josh close by. Cathy getting frustrated with her crutches and constantly is adjusting her possession. Things at the court house went buy very smoothly. I guairanship over them.

Then things went over just as smooth at the wheel chair place measure her and said the chair would be ready in 45 minutes. I thought perfect timing for me to get over to the therapy center and back. We went to the therapy center I ran in with Charity instead of unloading everyone and set up her first appointment quickly we would make the rest of her appointments accordingly after her evaluation. Then we went back to the wheelchair place and they loaded it in to the back of the van.

At last we were at the mall. First we went to a restaurant and ate. Then I deiced we’d go to the girls clothes shop first. I told the girls that I would spend 100 dollars each on their clothes. They were to try an outfit on and I’d tell them if it looked right on them and if it did I’d buy it for them. All the girls seemed to like dresses a lot. Meanwhile I sent Bret to go them each a necklace. He returned with a small bag and said the change was in there and I thanked him.

Then we went to the boys store the same rules applied. The boys just randomly picked jeans and t-shirts. Then we went to the shoes and accessory store. Ok I told them that they each were going to get a pair of gym shoes and a pair of dress shoes. Then I told the boys they cloud each get three expensive ties or 10 cheap ties. Then I told the girls to each pick one set of hair items. Josh chose three expensive ties and Bret chose 10 cheap ones. The girls each chose a different set of hair items. Then after we checked out I told Bret and Josh they’d need to share the ties and I told the girls to share their hair items. Then we went to the baby store I told the children that they each cloud pick out one outfit for Andrew. Then I helped Andrew pick out his Sunday suit I held up one green and one blue he chose green. I deiced he didn’t need shoes and knew I had socks for each of them at home.

Then at last we were on our way home. I let the kids know which room belonged to whom. I told them that Cathy and Charity’s rooms were on the first floor not far from my room. My bedroom was also down their it had a sliding door so that room on the other side of the sliding door was going to be Andrews. Suzy’s room was on the second floor. Bret and Josh had a room that was connecting like mine and Andrew’s except there’s was on the third floor. I wasn’t fond of putting Josh up their but he insisted on sharing a room with his brother. I figured it would be ok because Bret’s door slid open to Josh’s room. Bret seemed like a great big brother. I also explained there was a bathroom near each their bedrooms. My bathroom was the master and it was off of the other side of my bedroom.

Ch 5

Then we unloaded every one and I gave them a tour of their new home. They marveled at the elevator. They were shocked when they found a room with video games. They were in awe at the fact that they each got their own play room even Andrew had his own play room. The bowling alie startled them. They wondered why I had an indoor and an outdoor pool. They didn’t believe that they had an indoor play ground and an outdoor swing set. They wondered about school. Then the final thing I showed them was their class rooms. Their teachers were computers. Suzy then said “I have a classroom in my house cool.” Bret wondered about friends. I responded with a question “how many desk were in your classroom.” He replied “10 oh you run a school.” I nodded. I also explained about how when their baby’s till they can talk while I have I class called mommy and pal that’s why a computer teaches you. I explained to them the times they cloud go to school and it was on 3 hours. Then explained that they cloud go to school from 8-11 a.m. They cloud go from noon-3 p.m. The final time they cloud attend was 3-6 p.m.

They started school the next day. They thought it was neat that if they wanted they cloud go to school in their pajamas. They had 10 minutes worth of home after school which was fun.

Ch 6

Days went by and weeks went by. The kids enjoyed everything. Then months and months went buy it was fun to watch them grow. Except we seemed to have a little bit of a problem. The orthopedic was worried about Charity’s progress kids who were coming three weeks after she got there seemed to be ahead of her I was told. I deiced that after school we would go down to the indoor pool and get her maybe up to speed. So the next day after school she didn’t have an orthopedic session. So I took Charity down to the pool. I deiced just 10 minutes to start with she seemed very scared. She fought me the whole time but I knew it was for her good. So we did and every day I saw an improvement with behavior and ability. servial months passed she also attended her orthopedic sessions. Then the next session at the orthopedic I asked me to come back and see something there Charity was on crutches like her sister Cathy. So I chatted with the orthopedic. So I made arrangements for Cathy and Charity to see him once a month. Then once a day every day the girls would get into the pool and it started with 20 minutes than 30 minutes and every so often I’d increase how long they were in there.

Now three years later. Andrew now three and in a preschool class. Charity on one crutch now six and in a 1st grade class. Cathy now eight no longer on crutches but had a brace on one leg now in a 3rd grade class. Josh now seven in a 2nd grade class. Suzy now 10 in a 5th grade class. Bret now 12 we were told he didn’t have diabetes and he was in 7th grade class. At last their adoption papers had gone through all the red tape. So that weekend I told them that we were going to have a big adoption party for them. Everyone except Andrew was excited because Andrew was so little when his mom died he thought I was his mom. We all let him think that cause it made no difference till he was three cause he wouldn’t understand so we explained everything and then he was excited that I was officially becoming there mom.

That Saturday was their party they put on their nicest clothes. All their friends were there with their families. This was a wonderful party. Until Charity decides she’s nearly going to give all us adults a heart attack. Charity comes out of the bathroom takes a few sturdy steps with the crutch then throws the crutch down and unsteadily walks to me. I then embrace her in a hug then I say “next time cloud you warn us.” She said “Ok but I did it for you mom.” I cried tears of joy she called me mom for the first time. The only one who called me mom before that was Andrew and that’s cause as far as he knew I was. This was amazing she knew that I wasn’t her birth mom but she still called me mom. What happened next was so adorable all my children then gathered around me and sang. Mom we owe it all to you. If hadn’t come we would be gone but we owe it all to you. God sent you to us for he just what we needed. Was you just you. Then Josh, Charity, and Andrew hand me a gift wrapped and said from all of us.

Then that’s the end of the story on how I acquired six children. By the way my name is Amanda Beth. That’s the end of my fictional story night all may your days and nights be blessed and please take care of your self’s.
